ManagEnergy, the annual energy management conference of the European Commission, was opened in Brussels on March 24, 2010. It included the representatives of local and regional communities, and the energy agency.
The conference was opened by Mr. Fabrizio Barbaso, Deputy Director General of DG Energy of the European Commission. Ms. Jelena Pavičić Vukičević, Deputy Mayor of the City of Zagreb, presented the successful cooperation between the City of Zagreb and the North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency, as well as the new opportunities and initiatives aimed at developing further the implementation of plans on sustainable energy development of cities.
Together with the EU Commissioner for Energy, Mr. Günther Oettinger, Deputy Mayor Pavičić Vukičević handed out the annual ManagEnergy awards for energy projects from Scotland and Germany.
It is worth reminding that the City of Zagreb is actively participating in the implementation of the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign, led by the EC DG Energy and other European institutions, with the City Office for Energy, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development in charge of the efforts of the City of Zagreb.
